First Overseas Test Win Back-to-back

Indian cricket journey to becoming the top Test team started with wins against Indies and England in 1971. Ajit Wadeka’s team won 1-0 against West Indies and 1-0 against England. That was all thanks to Chandrasekar’s brilliant bowling and a successful chase in the fourth innings.

First World Cup Win

Among all other achievements, this stands out most because it was a turning point for India’s cricket. Especially since winning a World Cup wasn’t easy. India has beaten the most dominant team, the West Indies. It was their first world cup win. It happened on the 25—June of 1983.

Mini World Cup Win

This game occurred in 1984, only two years after winning the world cup. All the top national teams were playing, some of the strongest being the West Indies. Despite the win in the world cup, they were still underdogs.

2001 Test Series Win

At this time, Australia had one of the strongest teams on the planet. They were winning both home and away matches. It makes India underdogs again. But India had Sourav Ganguly, who led his team to victory. It happened in March 2001 in Eden Gardens.

2007 T20 World Cup

The first-ever World Cup with a 20-over format was in South Africa. So, in 2007, India won, led by captain MS Dhoni. Also, they won against their biggest rival, Pakistan.

Number One In Test Rankings

One of the memorable moments was India being at the top spot of the ICC Test rankings for the teams. It happened on December 6. 2009. Again led by their captain MS Dhoni, they were on top of the list until 2011.

2011 World Cup

About 28 years have taken team India to win a World Cup again. It was against the Sri Lankan team in ODI World Cup in Mumbai. Gambhir and Dhoni were the two most influential players, with combined 188 runs.

2013 Champions Trophy

2013 India won their first Champions Trophy after beating England in the finals. With this win, MS Dhoni was the only captain to win all 3 ICC Trophies. They cut the final match against England because of rain.

Win Against Australia

It was the first test win that team India had achieved in Australia. They played four games. They won two and then lost one, and the last was a draw, meaning they won 2-1. It’s also notable that those two wins were in Australia.

Test Win 20-21 VS Australia

It was a hard win for team India, and they were all out for 36 in the first test. Also, their main bowlers were injured, and the captain Virat Kohli was on paternity leave. India somehow overcame those injuries and won against Australia.
